The Curious Case of Chris Serino: Witness for the Zimmerman Prosecution or Defense?
No individual played a stronger role in highlighting inconsistencies in George Zimmerman’s narrative before the trial than Chris Serino. No individual played a stronger role in dismissing inconsistencies in George Zimmerman’s narrative during the trial than Chris Serino.
AmericaInJustice / CourtzBlox does not take a public stand on the verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman.
Many legal scholars have argued the verdict was “correct” given the (1) presentations of the prosecution and defense (2) the laws of Florida regarding “self defense” (not limited to the so-called “stand your ground” provisions) and (3) the narrative as given by George Zimmerman.
However given the extensive work by The Tampa Bay Times documenting the grave inconsistencies in cases involving “stand your ground” and “self defense” cases in Florida, arguments claiming that a finding of innocent was the only possibility appear to be misinformed based on the actual facts of other cases in Florida. For the record, Mr. Zimmerman waived his right to a pre-trial “stand your ground” hearing to determine immunity, but that does not make the statute irrelevant in the case (see the juror’s instructions above); however, it was not central to the defense as presented in the trial. There are many strong opinions about so many aspects of this controversial case. The most puzzling may be the role of lead investigator, Chris Serino.
